WCSWR – Women’s Crisis Service of Waterloo Region provides a safe haven to women and their children escaping abuse. As our region grows, so does the need for safe shelter. Your help is needed to rebuild Haven House.
In the midst of a crisis, women and their children are being forced to share bedrooms and bathrooms. They need privacy. Haven House needs to raise a final $2.5 to build more space because She Deserves It.
Domestic violence in numbers
The statistics reveal that many women are at risk here in Waterloo Region.
Help rebuild Haven House
WCSCR has a shortfall in the funds that they need to rebuild Haven House. The Kitchener Post recently described their shortfall of $2.5 from the $9.4M required. The shelter is currently located near the intersection of Eagle St N and Concession Rd in Cambridge, while the new shelter will be at Elgin St N and Acorn Way.
Among the supporters of the rebuild Haven House is Professional Fire Fighters Association in Cambridge. Mary Zilney, CEO of Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region comments on their contribution.
“The support and generosity of the Cambridge Professional Fire Fighters Association will help us inch closer to reaching our fundraising shortfall of $2.5 Million. The members of CPFFA Local 499 continue to be strong supporters of the work we do here in Cambridge, whether it’s responding to emergency calls for assistance, by providing food and gifts at Christmas time to women and their children staying in the shelter, and now by committing to the She Deserves It campaign to signify Perseverance. Their contributions to our agency and our clients are sincerely appreciated. We are very proud to have them as partners in this important community project.”
